Music Retailer Of the Year and Guardian Of the Year announced for #TIOawards
Congratulations to Dada Records in Perth for taking out the Music Retailer Of The Year. Dada is one of the oldest indie record stores in the country, opening in 1977, and has had the same owner, Rob Samson, since its inception. They stock loads of new and rare vinyl, host in-store gigs, and have a hefty ‘local’ section – always the best sign of a thriving record store.
Taking out the inaugural Guardian Of The Year award is Ralph Van Dijk, father of teen sensation Ruel. The wunderkind was discovered in 2015 by Grammy award-winning producer M-Phazes, who produced his debut single ‘Golden Years’. Ralph has helped steer his son’s career, overseeing his signing to Flagrant Artist Management, and his international deal with RCA – as well as doing his fair share of driving.
The Industry Observer Awards are happening tomorrow at the Sydney Cricket Ground, from 6:30pm.
