Mushroom Group expands artist services activities, partners with Foreign Echo
The Mushroom Group is growing.
With Matt Gudinski now settled into the top job, the independent music powerhouse strikes a new partnership with management company Foreign Echo.
Launched in 2019, Foreign Echo already boasts a world-class roster featuring the likes of Tkay Maidza, Ecca Vandal, Skin On Skin, emerging rapper Agung Mango and producers Tobiahs and Daniel Cartisano.
“In a very competitive landscape it’s difficult to find people you both want to work with and trust,” comments Sasha Chifura, Foreign Echo Founder and Director.
Partnering with Gudinski and the Mushroom Group “will only further benefit our talented team and roster,” he continues.
Gudinski has keenly watched Foreign Echo over the past two years. He pays tribute to its team’s entrepreneurial and creative ethos and knack for building sustainable careers.
“We’re so excited to officially unveil our partnership with Sasha and the team at Foreign Echo,” he explains. “Their roster speaks for itself and I strongly believe Sasha and the crew will be major players in the industry for decades to come. We’re excited to build together, with the power of the Mushroom Group behind them.”
According to a statement, Foreign Echo and its team are making strides locally and internationally, and “many more exciting announcements” will be announced in due course.
Tkay Maidza is a big part of that conversation. The Zimbabwe-born, Australia-based singer, songwriter and hip-hop artist is nominated for two AIM Independent Music Awards.
Earlier this year, she landed Best Record at the inaugural Rolling Stone Australia Awards, her recent single ‘Kim’ with Yung Baby Tate saw her feature in the pages of Pitchfork, Paper, Fader, Nylon and i-D, and, before that, she teamed up with Instagram for the social platform’s widely-promoted campaign, ‘Get Into What You Heart’.
Her EP Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 3 is set for release on July 9.
The Foreign Echo deal is unveiled some 10 weeks after Gudinski ascended the throne at Mushroom Group.
Based in Melbourne, Gudinski was announced as CEO on April 9, succeeding his late father Michael Gudinski, the group’s legendary founder and chairman.
Mushroom Group’s empire employs more than 200 staff and spans 20-plus brands across all areas of music and entertainment, including labels, agencies, promoters, creative services, and artist management businesses Converge Management and Role Model Artists.
