MTV Brand New Artist Spotlight: Set Mo

MTV Brand New is the youth brand’s new national competition which gives some of the hottest Australian and New Zealand artists the chanceto break internationally. TMN is featuring a nominated artist each week.

House grooves, deep disco sounds and banging club beats – that’s the main drive behind Australian production duo Set Mo. The pair, comprised of Sydneysiders Nick Drabble and Stu Turner, were DJs in their own right before banding in 2013 to form Set Mo. By the end of that year, Set Mo had released Keep On and Still Waters, both singles making waves on national radio, as well as receiving local and international blog support.

Set Mo continued to flourish well into 2014, releasing a slew of club-anthem remixes for artists like Wookie, Thief, Cassian and Acaddamy. Their sound caught the attention of online publication inthemix, who hailed them as one of the ‘Top 10 Producers to Watch in 2014.’ By the end of 2014, Set Mo had nabbed a record deal with local label etcetc, and dropped their debut EP The Crush.

The recent release of their sunny single White Dress has propelled Set Mo into the spotlight once again, reaching the Top 10 on the ARIA Club chart, #15 on the iTunes Dance chart and the top 50 of the Shazam Australia chart. The track has amassed over 1 million plays across Spotify, YouTube and Soundcloud, and has been picked up for a Europeanrelease.

With a continuous roster of tour supports and club gigs across Australia and Europe, as well as securing their debut festival performance at Splendour In The Grass in July, Set Mo are paving the way for a strong future in the EDM scene.
