CONRAD SEWELL
(WMA)
There are few artists who sing with as much gusto and soul as Conrad Sewell. The Brisbane native has had a whirlwind six months, racking up some major accomplishments all before his debut LP has even been released. Sewell is still riding on the success of Firestone, his collaboration with Kygo, in which he wrote and sung the hook to. The track has already had over 236 million streams on Spotify and has become an iTunes Top 10 single in Australia.
Sewell invested an interest in music from a young age, sending out his first demo at 8-years-old. He saved up for years, recording songs in his garage, before moving to the UK to launch his career. Sewell’s band at the time experienced a degree of success after being signed to a European label, but they eventually disbanded and Conrad renewed his interest in song writing.
Eventually, Sewell found himself in LA, penning and recording tracks with producer Jamie Hartman (Christina Aguilera, Joss Stone). It’s here where Sewell crafted his unique sound, derived from pop, dance, rock and gospel influences. These inspirations, along with Sewell’s powerhouse vocals, shine through in his first single Hold Me Up, which was written and produced by Brian Lee (Lady Gaga, Icona Pop) and Louis Bell.
Last month, following the release of latest single Start Again, Sewell and his sister Grace – who’ll you know best from her single You Don’t Own Me – made ARIA chart history as the first Australian siblings to hit #1 with different singles.
Fresh from supporting Ed Sheeran on his Australian tour, Sewell is set to embark on his own headlining Australian tour lined up for September. With a debut solo album now in the works, Sewell is poised to take the pop industry by storm.
