MTV Australia launches new website, four new content verticals

MTV Australia has relaunched its website, mtv.com.au, with a fresh new design.

The new website comes added with a video player with auto-play functionality, and four new content verticals focused on music, life, culture and impact.

MTV will also be publishing a new newsletter from today, MTV’s Weekly Wrap, which brings together regular news and interviews with high-profile figures.

“Reinvention, revival and (at the risk of sounding a little Marxist) revolution – saying fuck you to the standard way of doing things. MTV is never boring and never obvious,” editor Alice Griffin said in a letter published yesterday.

“That attitude, in a nutshell, is what our new website – contributed to by many of Australia’s best young voices and curated by yours truly – is all about.”

The new website comes as MTV rolls-out a vintage clothing collaboration with Australian denim company Rolla’s. Launched last week, the new collection features a range of t-shirts and accessories aimed at evoking the nostalgia of the iconic MTV brand logo.

The TV network has also been highlighting Indigenous artists through its ‘Indigenous Artist of the Moment’ initiative, starting with ARIA award-winning musician Miiesha in November and followed by Māori artist Rei this month.
