MTV Australia adopts UK talent search project Brand New
Adopting the UK series which placed artists such as Sam Smith, Florence & the Machine, Adele and Jessie J on the international radar, TMN can exclusively reveal MTV Australia has announced the local launch of MTV Brand New.
The online initiative sees the media brand partner with major and independent labels to highlight ten emerging Australian and New Zealand signed artists.
Throughout a ten-week competition from April 2015, the artists go head-to-head in a public vote. The competition concludes with a grand finale event to be broadcast on-air on both MTV and MTV Music in Australia, and MTV and MTV Hits in New Zealand.
“Australian and Kiwi artists are fierce competition in the music scene right now,” said Simon Bates, Director of MTV Australia and New Zealand. “We are really excited to work with labels to discover the next crop of local artists ready to take the world by storm. MTV AU/NZ reaches millions of people via our TV channels, our website and our 3.2 million social media connections. Our network is a huge platform for signed, emerging artists to get the exposure they need to make it big in the industry.”
