Having toured Australia and the globe relentlessly The Smith Street Band are about to embark on one last run around the country with acclaimed album Throw Me In The River. With the full run of dates all sold out except for a second Perth show, The Smith Street Band’s passionate frontman Wil Wagner has announced two solo shows in Melbourne and Sydney. This August are Wil’s biggest solo shows to date, playing the Corner Hotel in Melbourne and Oxford Art Factory in Sydney.
Guitar in hand, the unashamedly honest Wagner is joined by friend and musical compadre Jeff Rosenstock (Bomb The Music Industry!). New York local but no stranger to our shores, Rosenstock played a string of dates in March this year around his own solo release, We Cool? And has previously joined Wil on tour in Australia and America, not to mention he produced The Smith Street Band’s 2014 album Throw Me In The River.
Arguably one of Australia’s hardest working bands, The Smith Street Band have played up in your face punk rock shows non stop around Australia and abroad over the past few years, appearing at many of the country’s finest festivals from Laneway, Splendour in the Grass, Poison City Weekender as well as overseas at Reading and Leeds Festivals (UK) and the enormous Groezrock in Belgium. Throw Me In The River served the band well, landing triple j Album of the Week, scoring a spot in the ARIA top 20 album chart and a nomination for Best Indie Hard Rock/Punk Album at the 2015 AIR Awards. |
