Milk! Records signs Liz Stringer
Liz Stringer has officially joined the Milk! Records roster.
Announced Wednesday (17th February), the singer, songwriter and guitarist’s new label deal comes ahead of the 30th April release of First Time Really Feeling, her sixth album and the followup to 2016’s All the Bridges.
The LP is led by the title track, which dropped today and is the first release through the new alliance.

Based in Melbourne, Milk! was established by Courtney Barnett and Jen Cloher in 2012 and has twice gone on to win the AIR Award for best independent label.
Its current roster includes its co-founders, plus Sleater-Kinney, Chastity Belt, Jade Imagine, Loose Tooth, East Brunswick All Girls Choir, Evelyn Ida Morris, Hachiku, Tiny Ruins, Hand Habits, The Finks and Dyson Stringer Cloher.
“We are thrilled to fully embrace Liz as a member of the Milk! family,” comments Milk! Records Label Manager Tom Larnarch-Jones.
“We have loved working with her over the years as part of Dyson Stringer Cloher and are excited to share this album,” he adds. “It’s rare to get the opportunity to work alongside one of Australia’s greatest songwriters and musicians.”
Aside from releasing traditional albums, the label occasionally curates special events, compilations, collaborations, limited edition vinyl “plus curios from friends and artists we love,” reads a statement on its site.
“I’m really proud and excited to be joining Milk! Records as a solo artist,” comments Stringer in a statement. “I’ve long admired Milk!’s independence and community focus and after already being involved through Dyson Stringer Cloher, it feels like a natural fit for my new record.”
Stringer, also based in Melbourne, broke through in 2006 with her debut album Soon. Her talents caught the attention of Dyson, and she accepted an invite to tour with the ARIA Award winner in 2006 and again in 2009.
Soon after, she was performing with the likes of Ash Grunwald, Jeff Lang, Weddings Parties Anything, Jen Cloher & The Endless Sea, Eric Bibb and Joe Henry.

In 2013, Stringer collaborated with Dyson and Cloher for a tour which yielded a live EP. Later, in 2019, the trio reunited for a 36-date national trek and a self-titled debut album.
Stringer is represented by Applejack Management, Gaga Music Publishing and booking agent Select Music.
“Liz is such an incredibly talented songwriter and performer – it is truly criminal how many people don’t know this,” comments Applejack Management artist manager Jeremy Furze.
“Al (Parkinson) and I are absolutely thrilled to be joining team Stringer after both being big fans on the sidelines for many years. We’re so excited about this new album and the many more to follow. Criminal!”
