Sydney singer-songwriter merci, mercy has released a new single, ‘Winnie Crush’— an easy listen about the fine line between self-care and indulgence. The route to sharing this song coincides with exciting news about merci, mercy’s ROW partnership with Capitol Records U.S. and EMI UK.

Liberation Records continue to represent merci, mercy in Australia and New Zealand.

The song’s clever video from Interns Creative follows merci, mercy as she confronts various vices in a colourful wonderland.

“’Winnie Crush’ is a song about a toxic relationship that I have with myself,” she said. “These bad habits that I’m letting take control over my life. I can barely afford what is good for my body let alone what’s bad for it.

“In this mind of mine I’ve tricked myself to believe that this is what’s good for me, that it’s something that makes me happy. I can’t afford to do this to myself anymore, I can’t afford a love that doesn’t exist.”

Of the signing, merci, mercy also said, “Signing with Capital Records and EMI (UK) is an extraordinary achievement for me. I still don’t believe that it is real. The first time meeting the team at Capital and EMI over zoom I just fell in love. They liked me for me and they really understood what I wanted to do with my music. I feel so incredibly lucky that I now have some more incredible people on my team!”

Damian Slevison, Managing Director of Liberation Records, said, “We’re very excited to enter into this partnership with the Capitol US and EMI UK teams. Their passion for merci, mercy’s music has been constantly energising and we look forward to further building her global career with such experienced and driven teams.”

Her viral hit ‘Fucked Myself Up’ has amassed over 10 million Spotify and Apple Music streams and since releasing her debut EP, merci, mercy has been featured on more than 100 playlists in over 38 countries.

Tastemakers have also shown support for the Aussie singer-songwriter. The song ‘Fucked Myself Up’ was supported by Beats 1 maestro Zane Lowe, while V Magazine touted her as an indie-pop maverick.

Other publications that have already shown appreciation for merci, mercy’s work include FLAUNT, who praised her “disarming pop anthems that offer an insight into youthful chaos,” Ones To Watch, PAPER, Alternative Press, and Lyrical Lemonade.

With its instantly hummable chorus and a multitude of hooks in ‘Winnie Crush’, merci, mercy clearly has more to offer in 2021, now under her new international home at Capitol and EMI.
