MCM Media merges with Igloo, rebrands

MCM Media, the company behind Take 40, Live at the Chapel, The Hot Hits and My Generation, has announced a rebrand and merger with partner company Igloo.

The 30-year-old media and production company has teamed with digital agency Igloo to re-launch as Authentic Entertainment.

The re-launch as a single marketing service company precedes a new suite of yet-to-be-announced products and services and a new leadership team.

The new team is John Wardley, CEO, who brings over 20 years blue-chip marketing experience; Jonathan Hopkins, Strategy and Marketing Director, who has over 15 years media agency experience; Chris Derrick, Digital Director; Danika Johnson, Sales Director and Sam Thompson, Broadcast Director. The company is still to name a Creative Director.

Jonathan Hopkins told TMN: “The logic behind combining both businesses was simple – we can serve our clients and our audiences much better together than we could separately.

“A more holistic marketing solution for Australian marketers, digital smarts and outstanding content creation comes together at Authentic Entertainment.”

Authentic Entertainment’s recent client partnership with Rebel Sport brought about the release of the retailer’s new exercise companion music mix app Rebel Beats. The company is also pioneering the OTT (Over the Top Technology) digital video space with VEVO and the launch of US animation cable network [adultswim] as a digital platform.

Hopkins told TMN the merger represents a vision for the company to take a stronger hold on the entertainment marketplace through a ‘two heads are better than one’ approach.

“The market is demanding more content, more creativity and more digital innovation,” he said. “We had the skills within the group already, we have simply merged two businesses together to serve our clients’ and audiences’ needs even better than before.”
