Matt Gudinski Promoted to CEO at Mushroom Group
Matt Gudinski takes the reins at Mushroom Group, assuming the role of CEO with immediate effect.
Gudinski’s promotion is a reflection of his integral place in the business built by his father, the late Michael Gudinski, the Mushroom Group founder and Chairman who passed away March 2 at the age of 68.
The elder Gudinski promoted his son to the position of Executive Directive Mushroom Group and heir apparent back in 2013, as part of a wider relaunch of the company to coincide with its 40th anniversary.
In the years since, Matt and Michael worked closely at the helm of the independent music powerhouse, which counts 250 staff and spans two dozen companies from touring to record labels, publishing, merchandising, booking agencies, film and television production and more.
“This isn’t a role that I expected to assume yet, but I am determined to honour the great legacy my father left,” comments Matt Gudinski in a statement issued Friday morning (9th April).
“Mushroom Group is in its strongest position ever and as we fast approach our 50th year I know that our incredibly talented Mushroom family will help me deliver the vision Dad and I had for the next 50 years of our business.”
Matt was literally born into the business. He joined in an official capacity back in 2003 at the age of 17, forming Illusive Sounds, with Adam Jankie, and its touring division Illusive Presents.
The younger Gudinski has also enjoyed success guiding RNB Fridays Live, partnered on Artist Voice (now part of WME IMG), launched the Purifier RSS reader and more.
