Matt Gudinski adds to collective of Mushroom Group labels

Mushroom Group’s touring and live events business might be travelling at a slower pace during the pandemic, but its labels are off to a rocking start this year.

I OH YOU, Soothsayer, Liberation, Ivy League, Bloodlines, Liberator and the new 100s + 1000s imprint are kicking big goals for the indie music company.

Under the supervision of Matt Gudinski, Mushroom labels had 17 ARIA nominations last year and are responsible two #1 albums in 2020, courtesy of Violent Soho and The Teskey Brothers.

Fresh signings Hayley Mary, Andy Golledge and Juno Mamba gave released debut projects, and residents Jack River, Willaris. K and Love Deluxe continued alluring the industry with new music.

But it’s new imprint 100s + 1000s that the industry is watching closely. It’s been quietly building steam and officially launches today with new signings Fergus James, D’Arcy and Tobiahs.

“I couldn’t be more excited to launch 100s + 1000s,” said Gudinski in a statement. “Our goal is to create something much more fluid and holistic than a traditional label.”

All artists debuting on the 100s + 1000s roster are managed within the Mushroom Group, who touts the new imprint as a “full-service music development” operation.

“We’re taking a super artist-friendly, collaborative and transparent approach, and so far it feels like we’ve got something very special on our hands,” added Gudinski.

“It helps that we’ve launched with three of the country’s most exciting young artists too!”

James released new music this month after joining the 100s + 1000s roster, a follow-up to his 2019 debut EP All Of The Colours, which placed the rising alt-pop act on industry watch lists.

Mushroom’s collective of labels has what everyone wants, momentum.

There’s new music coming from Sydney’s DMAs on I OH YOU, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever on Ivy League and hip-hop heavyweights Bliss n Eso are back in the studio.
