Matt Corby releases first single in two years
Matt Corby has just released his first opus in two years, his graceful elixir Monday.
“I guess I needed to spend that time learning how to practically play, on each instrument, what I would regularly hear in my head,” Corby said. “Enough time has now passed now for me to clear my head of everything that I’ve done before, reboot and have the balls to do it again."
The track was recorded entirely with sounds made exclusively from Corby’s voice and body.
Premiered ontriple j Breakfast with Matt and Alexthis morning, Monday follows his two other single releases, the 6x Platinum, ARIA song of the year Brother, and the 4x Platinum ARIA song of the year (and #8 on triple j’s Hottest 100 2013) Resolution.
Recorded in just 10 minutes in a cottage in the NSW coastal town of Berry, Monday is the lead cut from his upcoming debut album. His 2011 EP, the four-track Into The Flame, hit #3 on the ARIA chart andspent a total of 36 weeks in the chart.
Corby recently leant his writingchops to long-time friend Jarryd James for James’ debut LP Thirty One, which entered at #2 on the ARIA chart last month.
Along with the single service, Corby has announced a five-date national tour for November, the first time he’s toured since 2013’s sold out Resolution Tour.
Tickets go on sale Friday, October 2 at 9am at mattcorby.com.
