Mastodon and Jamiroquai both heading for top 5 album debuts
The top reaches of the albums charts will be interesting this weekend, as Mastodon and Jamiroquai look set to debut in the top 5.
Mastodon’s Emperor Of Sand is the band’s seventh album, and should mark their highest debut in Australia to date: they hit #7 with 2014’s Once More Round The Sun, and landed another three albums in the top 50.
Jamiroquai have scored two Aussie #1 albums: 1999’s Synkronized and 2001 follow up A Funk Odyssey. They last charted with a 2010’s Rock Dust Light Star, which peaked at #13. Automaton, their first album in seven years, should land nicely in the top 5.
Other high debuts this week will be Blood Lust by Body Count, which looks set to hit the top 15, as does Starlight by Jon Stevens and Alright Already by Polish Club.
And proving you can’t keep a good kids’ soundtrack down, both Moana and Sing will jump back into the top 5. The ARIA chart will be released on Saturday night.
