Masked Wolf Returns With New Global Partnership Struck by Teamwrk, Ingrooves Music Group

Masked Wolf is back with his old pack at Lucky Ent’s Teamwrk, which has struck a partnership with Ingrooves Music Group for worldwide distribution.

Announced Thursday (Feb. 9), Ingrooves exclusively distributes works for Teamwrk’s roster on a global basis, including Masked Wolf and a stable of recording artists across pop, hip-hop, dance and rock.

The first release through the new partnership is “Never the Same,” set to drop Friday (Feb. 10).

Ingrooves has already distributed a string of releases with Teamwrk Records, through a distribution deal struck in mid-2022. Among those earlier cuts were ex-ANZ releases for Masked Wolf singles “Butterflies & Bandaids” (December 2022) and “The Story” (January 2023).

“Our partnership with Ingrooves has already helped us see growth and new opportunities around the world as we look to expand and engage audiences for Masked Wolf and the rest of the Teamwrk roster,” said Jae Butt, co-founder of Teamwrk.

“It’s incredibly gratifying for the label team to continue building Wolf on a global basis as he takes creative and commercial control of his career by returning to his independent roots,” adds Butt.

“And we feel we’ve found a perfect partner for him and the rest of the Teamwrk roster in Ingrooves, whose best-in-class global distribution team and marketing services will enable our team to expand our marketing efforts on a true global scale.”

Adds Nina Rabe-Cairns, managing director, APAC for Ingrooves Music Group, “Jae Butt and the entire Teamwrk team are a true powerhouse and an inspiration for those in the music industry that want to make it independently on a global scale.”

Masked Wolf, the Sydney rapper born Harry Michael, enjoyed a remarkable breakthrough with his viral hit “Astronaut in the Ocean,” produced with Tyron Hapi.

The track has accumulated more than one billion streams on Spotify alone, peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2021, and dominated TikTok that year. Those feats saw Masked Wolf appear at No. 24 on the 2021 Songwriters’ Review.

The new distribution partnership sees Masked Wolf cement his independent credentials after cutting ties with Warner Music Group in late 2022.

That split, he wrote last December on social media, would give him “complete creative control over my music again.”

Previously, he released music through a partnership with Teamwrk Records and ADA/Warner Music Australia for ANZ, an extension to a deal with Warner Music’s Elektra Records covering the world outside Australasia.

In his pre-Christmas 2022 message, Masked Wolf continued, “I’ve been working on and writing everything form the heart. Love it or hate it. It’s going to be me 100%.”

He’ll road test those new tunes when he embarks on a 50-date global tour, kicking off March 10 at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena.
