Mark Gibbons appointed head booker at Fortitude Music Hall

Sydney venue identity Mark Gibbons will be head of bookings for the nearly-completed Fortitude Music Hall and Brisbane’s Triffid club from February 4.

The Triffid’s management is also behind the 3,000-capacity The Fortitude Music Hall, with Secret Sounds and Live Nation.

Touted to be a major music destination after it opens mid-year, it is located in Brunswick Street Mall in Brisbane’s entertainment precinct Fortitude Valley and built on the site of Festival Hall between 1959 and 2003.

“With the rapid growth and changes Brisbane is undergoing, there’s a clear need in the city for a 3000+ capacity venue,” says Gibbons, who most recently was booker for the past six years as booker with Century Venues properties as Sydney’s Enmore, Metro and Factory theatres.

“Working at Century Venues has taught me how important these spaces are to the fabric of the community around them.

“I believe that a city is only as strong as its culture.”

John Collins, venue director of the Triffid and The Fortitude Music Hall, adds, “After the success of opening the Triffid four years ago I’m pumped about extending this ethos into a new larger venue, the Fortitude Music Hall.

“I’m excited about working with Mark, his expertise in booking multiple venues will be a massive asset for both.”
