Lorde up for BBC’s International Artist of the Year award

The BBC Music Awards nominations were revealed yesterday giving the shortlist for British Artist of the Year as well as the International Artist of the Year. Amongst the artists nominated for International Artist of the Year is New Zealand’s own Lorde.

She’ll be competing against Dolly Parton, Gregory Porter, Pharrell Williams, Prince and Taylor Swift, all of whom have had strong releases this year.

This adds to an already overwhelmingly large list of nominations and awards that Lorde has received this year alone including:

  • New Zealand Music Award for Album Of The Year, Single Of The Year (Team), Best Female Solo Artist, Best Pop Album, Highest Selling Single (Royals) and the International Achievement award.
  • The APRA award for Outstanding International Achievement Award, as well as ARPA Silver Scroll Award (Royals), Most Performed Work In New Zealand (Team) and Most Performed Work Overseas (Royals)
  • ARIA nomination for Best International Artist
  • AMA nominations for Artist Of The Year, Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist, Favorite Alternate Artist, Favorite Pop/Rock Album (Pure Heroine)
  • Winning the Billboard Music Award for Top New Artist and Top Rock Song (Royals) as well as eleven other nominations
  • Winning the Brit Award for International Female Solo Artist
  • Winning the Grammy Award for Song Of The Year (Royals) and Best Pop Solo Performance(Best Pop Solo Performance)
  • Winning the MTV Europe Music Award for Best New Zealand Act
