Lorde producer Joel Little wins two NZ music awards

Little, who is now based in Los Angeles working with acts such as Tove Lo, and Imagine Dragons, delivered his acceptance speech by video.

“We all worked really hard on this album, for many, many months,” he said. “We’re really proud of what we made so this means a lot.

“I want to thank Broods, for working so hard to challenge themselves and try new things, which kind of forced me to become a better engineer, just to keep up with them.”

Little took the Producer category in 2014 for Lorde’s debut global hit Pure Heroine.

This year he was up against Devin Abrams for Pacific Heights’ The Stillness and Josh Fountain who produced MAALA’s Composure.

Video producer Chris Lane triumphed in the Best Music Video for Out by Avalanche City.

Visual artist Anns Taylor took home the tui for Best Album Cover for her work on Lawrence Arabia’s Absolute Truth.

The inaugural awards ceremony marked the start of the Vodafone Music 2016 Awards season. The awards are held on November 17 at Auckland’s Vector Arena.
