Dan Kelly said about his inclusion, “It’s tremendous to be included in this year’s Longlist for the AMP awards. It’s been a mental year for great Australian albums and just to be in included with the likes of Royal Headache, Tame Impala, Totally MIld, My Disco, Courtney Barnett, Jess Ribeiro and all the nominees is a great honour for me and my musical cohorts and gives me an all round good feeling. The diversity of the list is very inspiring. So many styles to plunder for my next disc/stream! If I win I promise to buy some golden swimmers and go snorkeling in the Maldives with the Dream Band and/or record another album.”
PPCA’s Chief Executive Officer Dan Rosen said, “PPCA is proud to again be on board as the $30,000 major prize sponsor of The AMP – a prize that has remained close to our hearts since its inception over a decade ago. This prize has helped further the careers of some fantastic Australian artists including The Drones, Lisa Mitchell and most recently, REMI.
“The support of Australian recording artists has been the cornerstone of PPCA for over 40 years, therefore we are honoured to have been the major prize sponsor of the Australian Music Prize since day one.
“2015 has been an exceptional year for Australian music and we eagerly look forward for the winner of this year’s AMP to be announced.”
The 11th AMP continues to recognise and promote excellence in Australian music, with a generous incentive of $30,000 in prize money courtesy of PPCA.
