Live Nation’s ‘Festival Passport’ is a ticket to the world’s fests

If you’re a cashed-up jet-setter with a taste for hitting festivals in foreign lands, then Live Nation has the ticket for you.

The live entertainment giant is expanding its “Festival Passport” after its limited edition first run sold out

The all-you-can eat pass gives its owner access to LN’s 100-plus festivals around the globe (up from 90-plus) for a full year, including Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Electric Daisy Carnival in the U.S., Reading and Download Festivals in the U.K., Creamfields in China and Australia’s Falls Fest and Sydney City Limits.  The general ticket cost US$999 and a new VIP lanyard is priced at US$5,000.

The world, as we so often hear, is getting smaller. And Live Nation’s planetary suite of festival assets is growing (in this part of the world, Download Festival will return next year in Melbourne and a new date will take place in Sydney). This passport is a neat way for LN to leverage off its enormous scale and plug gig-goers into its global strategy.

The concerts giant will utilise Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan platform to keep the passes off the secondary market. Registration closes late Tuesday EST and ahead of the April 17 onsale. Also, purchasers must submit their full legal name to match with a photo ID for entry to be granted at each festival.

The new offering comes after LN shifted all its 1,000 passports in just 24 hours (those first passes were priced at US$799). This time, 2,500 standard passports and 100 VIP passes are up for grabs. Transportation, airfare, hotel accommodation and parking aren’t covered by the cost of the pass, nor is onsite camping, unless otherwise stated.
