Live Nation NZ helps launch new Dunedin event Fortune Festival

Live Nation New Zealand has joined a partnership with a local venue management company to help launch a new music festival, Fortune Festival.

The partnership with Dunedin Venue Management, Fortune Festival will feature an all-NZ lineup across multiple stages on the Dunedin’s University Oval cricket ground.

The festival will take place on Saturday, April 2 and will have a maximum capacity of 5,000 people.

Dunedin Venues Management CEO Terry Davies said, via IQ Mag, the new festival will help restore some of the area’s live music industry following the pandemic.

“With Covid wreaking havoc on the live music industry, Dunedin itself has lost many large-scale events and we saw the need to shine a light at the end of the tunnel,” Davies said.

“It has come together amazingly with a truly unique event held on a special ground with a lineup of acts that will bring new energy to the city.”

Live Nation’s Mike Ross said that their local New Zealand acts were quick to jump at the chance to play a new festival.

“We have been honoured by the support of our Kiwi musicians who were quick to join the festival,” he said.

“Like us, our musicians see the potential for an amazing new event in Dunedin that will provide the South entertainment and a large number of visitors who will travel to an event of this calibre.”

Meanwhile, festival organiser Jason Schroder noted how much music fans of the area have been craving the return of live music.

“We are absolutely stoked to be bringing an amazing lineup of iconic kiwi musicians to Dunedin,” Schroeder said.

“We know the city and the wider region have been aching for a new large-scale event and we’re ready to make it happen.”
