Mental health charity Listen Up launches Torch Fest Brisbane
Mental health music charity Listen Up has announced the launch of a one-day festival in Brisbane, with 12 acts locked in to perform.
Torch Fest Brisbane will take place at the West Room performance space on April 10. Performers on the lineup include Tia Gostelow, DOOLIE, ELEEA, Jordan Merrick, Leonie Kingdom, Genes and Ella Fence, among others.
The concept behind the day festival is to present a handful of performances in an intimate space, providing the chance to reduce mental health stigma while keeping it entertaining and fun. As part of the show, each artist will perform a ‘torch song’, with battery-powered torches handed out to attendees to flash when the songs are played.
“Torch Fest has been an idea that I have had for some time now, and it feels right to be launching it at a time when connection and community are so very important,” Listen Up co-founder, Ali Taylor, said in a statement.
“COVID-19 has had an enormous impact on communities all across the country, and the idea of music being something to get you through, coupled with the huge importance to artists of being able to perform live, it’s a no brainer.”
Tickets to Torch Fest are on sale through Oztix.
