Lip Sync Battle beats Morrison’s budget speech in TV ratings

Nine’s Lip Sync Battle’s return for this year was greeted by 735,000 fans, making it the 11th highest show of last night.

The LL Cool J/ Chrissy Teigen fronted show featured Telenovela star Eva Longoria vs. Nashville’s Hayden Panettiere. Screened in America on February 11, it saw Longoria win in a close battle with Flo Rida’s Low and Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda.

Panettiere said she “represented blonde girls everywhere” doing Blondie’s One Way Or Another and then Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mýa and Pink’s Lady Marmalade complete with a guest appearance from Aguilera herself. Panettiere’s creepy rendition of the Blondie song saw Teigen admit, “I didn’t know that song was that weird until I saw you do it.”

This season’s US episodes have seen battles between Gabriel Iglesias vs. Randy Couture, Gigi Hadid vs. Tyler Posey and Katharine McPhee vs. Jason Derulo.

Nine’s The Voice continued to head the ratings for its third episode, dipping to 1.275 million viewers. It made a comeback on Sunday with 1.4 million and climbed up to 1.409 million on Monday night. Last night it continued to dominate the 18-49 and 25-54 demographics. The Voice was instrumental in Nine grabbing a 21.8% share of the night.

The music shows beat Federal Treasurer Scott Morrison’s budget speech which had 695,000 metro viewers tuning in.
