A Lime Cordiale x Post Malone collaboration is on the cards [EXCLUSIVE]

Lime Cordiale’s new LP 14 Steps To A Better You may be one of the most anticipated Australian records of 2020, but it’s also in very good hands internationally, thanks to a deal struck between Chugg Music, US-based management heavyweight Dre London and global hitmaker Post Malone.

Announced last September, Chugg Music (formed by Michael Chugg and Andrew Stone in 2012) and Lime Cordiale joined forces with Post Malone and Dre London. With the goal to release music under new joint entity London Cowboys, 14 Steps To A Better You is the first studio album to be released as part of the deal. The LP drops tomorrow (July 10).

Speaking to this journalist for an upcoming feature in Rolling Stone Australia magazine (out September 7), Dre London said he always knew there was something special about Leimbach brothers Oli and Louis.

“Ever since we first met Lime Cordiale backstage at Posty’s show [in Sydney in May 2019] we knew there was something special about them,” said the Variety Manager of The Year’.

“It’s hard to explain, you just have this feeling in your gut. Then we heard the music and saw what they were doing with radio in Australia and it was a no brainer, they’re actual musicians, very talented, and very driven, which always impresses me.”

With the band’s second album out tomorrow, and a run of intimate Sydney launch shows amid COVID-19 just wrapped up, the London Cowboys deal begs the question: when will see a Post Malone x Lime Cordiale collaboration?

As Dre London told Rolling Stone, it’s definitely on the cards.

“Yes of course,” he said. “It just has to be the right organic song, like everything we do. You never know, anything is possible, and they definitely vibe.

“This is why we’ve seen all the success we’ve had with any acts on my roster, because their songs happened organically,” he added, referencing his management acts Tyga, Tyla Yaweh and more. “So we want that to be the same process. Fans know when songs feel forced and manufactured, and you could have a tonne of superstars all on the same song and it’ll flop. We’ve witnessed this a lot in music, especially recently.”

The next Rolling Stone Australia magazine issue is out September 7. It includes a deep dive into Lime Cordiale, featuring interviews with Oli and Louis at their home in Sydney, a chat with their parents, as well as their two managers, Andrew Stone and Dre London.
