Liberation signs Perth artist Grace
Mushroom Group label imprint Liberation Music has announced the signing of Perth musician Grace.
24-year-old Grace, who previously recorded under her full name Grace Woodroofe and was championed by the late Heath Ledger when he discovered her through triple j Unearthed, inked a worldwide deal with Liberation and Mushroom Music Publishing in June.
Announced officially to Liberation’s roster this week, Damian Slevison, A&R Director at Liberation Music, told TMN: “We are thrilled to announce the signing of Grace to the Liberation family. She is an immense talent with a commanding voice and is an incredibly talented and evocative lyricist.”
Earlier this month Grace joined UK’s alt-J on their fleeting two-date Australian visit, performing to capacity crowds at Sydney’s Enmore and Melbourne’s Forum.
Grace has previously toured with Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Cat Power, Neil Finn & Paul Kelly, Matt Corby, Jack Johnson and Ben Harper, who produced her 2010 debut LP Always Want.
Grace is booked by Dave Batty at Artist Voice and co-managed by Matt Emsell (Wonder Management) and Jaddan Comerford (UNIFIED). She was previously solely managed by Emsell.
Tomorrow, she’ll release her first single with Liberation, Pluto, produced by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek. Along with Sitek, Grace has been working with New York artist/producer Sam Spiegel (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Maroon 5, Ben Lee) and ex-Evermore member Dann Hume (who produced A is for Alpine and co-wrote Lisa Mitchell’s Incomplete Lullaby).
“Pluto is the first taste from an innovative and unique artist whom we are excited to watch grow,” said Slevinson.
