LANY return with radio-ready single ‘good guys’
The return of US indie pop trio LANY has been marked with the first single from their forthcoming third album, and bop titled ‘good guys’.
Having cemented their status as one of the fastest-rising pop acts of the decade with 2018 record Malibu Nights, they’re back and ready to service a growing fanbase ahead of next record Mama’s Boy – due out later in 2020.
‘good guys’ is a slow-burning break-up song, with vocals that are imbued with a real feeling of sincerity and emotion. Underpinned by catchy and understated production, it’s the perfect follow-up and return to the scene for the band after a few years away.
“As soon as you say ‘I love spending time with you’ to someone, they figure something out and they’re not interested anymore,” says LANY frontman Paul Klein. “It’s like a challenge. You accomplish the task of getting someone to like you and they move on.”
It’s clear to see why LANY brought on some high-profile songwriters and collaborators for the creation process of Mama’s Boy. They worked on the record with Dan + Shay’s Dan Smyers, as well as Kacey Musgraves collaborator Shane McAnally, as well as Sasha Sloan and King Henry.
The new single comes with its own video clip too, which premiered overnight.
