Kylie and Dannii Minogue to appear on RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under

Kylie and Dannii Minogue and director Taika Waititi have been announced as the first guest stars on the Australian production of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

The eight-part series was first announced back in January, with RuPaul set to host along with series regular Michelle Visage and guest judge and comedian Rhys Nicholson. Episodes will be aired weekly from May 1 exclusively on Stan.

The Australian and New Zealand contestants were revealed a couple of months later in March at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. They are Anita Wigl’it (Auckland), Art Simone (Geelong), Coco Jumbo (Sydney), Elektra Shock (Auckland), Etcetera Etcetera (Sydney), JoJo Zaho (Newcastle), Karen from Finance (Melbourne), Kita Mean (Auckland) Maxi Shield (Sydney) and Scarlet Adams (Perth).

Kylie said she can’t wait.

“I’m so excited to finally be a part of RuPaul’s Drag Race for the first series Down Under. It’s such an iconic show and I can’t wait to watch the contestants perform their hearts out to win the title of Down Under’s first Drag Superstar,” she said in a statement.

Dannii added: “I got to have a cheeky ‘Untucked’ chat with the girls on RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under Season 1. They had come straight from the runway challenge so it was exciting and tense all at the same time, not knowing who was going to have to lip sync for their life.”

More guests are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
