Kormak Signs With Seismic Talent, Drops Kanye Cover (EXCLUSIVE)

Sydney-based house DJ and producer Kormak has reached what he calls “a bottle popping moment” as he links with a new agent.

In a double whammy, he signed with Seismic Talent Agency as he prepares to tour extensively in 2023, and dropped his take on Kanye West’s “Mercy” through Club Sweat.

“I’m excited for where our industry is heading after the pandemic, and I’m keen to get back on the road at full capacity next year whilst releasing some of my favourite music to date,” he told TMN.

His next major appearance is at the Your Paradise festival in Fiji December 10-16.

Seismic Talent was launched in 2020 by Joel Siviour with a roster including Alison Wonderland, The Presets, George Maple, Example and Running Touch.

“Kormak is pumping out world-class releases and garnering support from the biggest names in house music around the world right now,” Siviour said of his roster’s latest addition.

“We’re thrilled to be guiding his live performance career and can’t wait to see this incredible talent dominating festival stages very soon.”

Agent Sarah Campbell added, “We’re really excited to be working with Kormak. He’s an incredibly talented producer and there’s a lot just round the corner.

“You’re going to be seeing his name everywhere in a couple months.”

Kormak is managed by Ignacio Garcia of Swerve Group.

“Having worked with Joel for over a decade as a booker, I feel we found the perfect home in the Seismic family for this project,” Garcia added.

Kormak started out by cutting edits of Turkish classics for migrants in Sydney’s Western Suburbs.

A combined obsession with ABC-TV’s “Rage” and Armand Van Helden’s sound led the teenager towards sampling and production.

He steeled his style via residencies in Kings Cross, which led to interest from Europe and releases on Kolombo’s Lulu Records and Defected’s DFTD.

“Love On Line” in the northern summer of 2019 reached No.10 on Beatport, clocked up five million combined streams, and was championed by Claptone, Patrick Topping, Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, Camelphat and Simon Dunmore.

The UK’s BBC Radio 1 support followed from Pete Tong, Annie Mac and Danny Howard, while Mista Jam hailed it a “future classic.”

Kormak’s collaboration with London house maverick Sam Divine on “I Want You”, which began during her Australian tour, was another global dancefloor and radio smash.

His involvement with West’s “Mercy” began spontaneously while driving to the studio.

“The song popped up by random on my Spotify and the idea to make it into something that could be played for the house heads couldn’t leave my mind.

“Soon as I arrived at the studio I laid down the groove, slapped the OG acapella on top and the first draft was finished in a couple hours. Really excited for this one.”

Tastemakers leapt on it, with Hayden James recounting: “Played this one around the world and it always gets a crazy reaction… huge record.”

Ferreck Dawn stated: “I’ve been playing ‘Mercy’ in my sets lately and it goes off every time! Proper BANGER”

Divine summed up: “Everything Kormak touches turns to gold.

“‘Merci’ has been a firm staple record in my sets and has been doing damage at UK festivals for me this summer.”
