Kobalt inks Brisbane’s Sheppard to worldwide publishing deal

PRESS RELEASE:

Kobalt Music Publishing, the leading independent music publisher in the world, announced today that it has signed the Australian-based indie-pop band, Sheppard. Through a worldwide agreement (excl. Australia / New Zealand), Kobalt Music Publishing will manage all published works for Sheppard including past, present and future titles.

Throughout the past year, Sheppard has experienced tremendous success with their chart-topping songs, "Geronimo” and “Let Me Down Easy.” The international hit songs are included on their debut studio album, Bombs Away (Decca/School Boy/Republic/Universal Music International). Following the album release in July 2014, their track, “Geronimo” has reached three million in sales and counting; “Let Me Down Easy” has had chart success in Europe and Australia and is approaching release in the UK. The band has gone gold, platinum, or multi-platinum in 21 countries.

Sas Metcalfe, President of Global Creative at Kobalt commented, “Sheppard is a very talented group, on track for tremendous success. We are delighted to have them as a part of the Kobalt family."

Currently, Sheppard is wrapping up a three-month world tour at the Summer Sonic festivals in Japan. The band has featured show-stopping performances and continues to garner attention across the music industry on a global scale. Surging into the American Top 40, Sheppard is one of only three Australian bands this century to break the barrier.

Dominique Keegan, creative director of Kobalt Music Publishing said, “I am very pleased to announce the signing of Sheppard to Kobalt Music Publishing. The band writes fantastic, infectious songs, and we are delighted to have them as part of our roster. Bombs away!”

George Sheppard, lead singer of the band, commented, "We are very honored and excited to sign with Kobalt Music Publishing, which is on the cutting edge of working songs and writers in the 21st century. We are looking forward to a long and successful partnership and are proud to join Kobalt’s impressive list of world renowned writers."
