Kanye West, Pusha T, Erykah Badu pen new tracks for Nas film
Kanye West, Pusha T, Erykah Badu, and Machine Gun Kelly are among the artists who have recorded new tracks for The Land, the upcoming film executive produced by Nas.
Announced in the first trailer for the film today, the soundtrack also includes new tracks from new Bad Boy/Epic signing French Montana, Jeremih, Ezzy and Nosaj Thing.
The soundtrack, produced by Nas, drops on the release day of the film,July 29. The soundtrack will be released on Nas’ indie label Mass Appeal Records, which distributes through the Sony-owned RED Distribution.
Directed by Steven Caple Jr, who up until now has only directed short films, a TV series and the telemovie Class, The Land follows four teenagers in Cleveland who have hopes of escaping the streets to pursue professional skateboarding careers. It stars Badu as a strung-out prostitute in the role of Rita Marley, Michael Kenneth Williams (Boardwalk Empire,The Wire) as one of the teens’ fathers and Machine Gun Kelly in a small role.
The Land made its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January. Watch the trailer below:
