Josh Pyke, Mushroom’s Ian James make APRA AMCOS Board nominees list
Following Jesse Hooper (Killing Heidi, The Verses)’s announcement yesterday of his nomination for a spot on this year’s APRA board, the Australasian collecting society has revealed its full list of Board nominations to TMN, for both the APRA and AMCOS Boards.
Among the 20 nominees for the twoavailable Writer Director spots on the APRA Board are: four-time ARIA winner Josh Pyke (pictured); APRA ambassador and Award winner Lior; The Go-Betweens member, screen composer and songwriter Amanda Brown; RIAJ, BPI & ARIA awarded professional songwriter John Collins (Anthony Callea, X Factor, Australian Idol) and Mondo Rock member Eric McCusker.
APRA has told TMN this year’s 20-strong list of Writer Director nominees is the most it’sever had (nominees are put forward to be nominated by other writer members).
Four nominees will be elected to the APRA Board (filling two Writer Director vacancies and two Publisher vacancies), and four nominees to the AMCOS Board, with the results announced at the AGM’s in November.

Five industry figures from the publishing industry make up the Director Nomination List for AMCOS:
Mushroom Music MD Ian James, who is also Deputy Chairman of APRA and a Director of AMPAL. Following his decade-long tenure at APRA in several management positions James joined Mushroom as MD in 1986. He was recently appointed as the Adjunct Professor at the Victoria University College of Business.
Mary Megan Peer, peermusic Deputy CEO, President of its Asia Pacific region and a director of its Australian company. The independent global music publishing company was founded by her grandfather Ralph S. Peer. Maryis currently based in New York and is a Board member of ASCAP.
Peter Hebbes A.M., MD of Hebbes Music Group and Eaton Music (Australia). Hebbes is also a director of CAS Music Australia and AMPAL and a past Director and Deputy Chairman of APRA. Hebbes is the Co-founder and trustee of The Golden Stave Foundation and has previously been a board member of Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Australia, the Music Industry Advisory Council (MIAC), the Australian Music Centre (AMC) and the Australasian Music Performance Committee (AMPCOM). In 2006 he was appointed as a member in the General Division of the Order of Australia (AM) in recognition of his contribution to the Australian music industry and his extensive charity work.
Native Tongue Music Publishing GM Jaime Gough. Gough is currently a board member of AMPAL and has served on the board for non-profit youth music organisation The Push.
Director of Hillsong Music Publishing and SHOUT! Music Publishing in Australia, Steve McPherson. McPherson also serves on the Board of Advisors to Christian Copyright Licensing International, both in the USA and for the European region and is a Director of AMPAL.
