Johnny Depp’s Notorious B.I.G. movie, ‘City Of Lies’ has been pulled from release

An upcoming Johnny Depp film has been pulled from its scheduled release date, just a month before it was set to premiere.

Back in 2016, it was revealed that Johnny Depp had been cast in the film City Of Lies, an adaptation of Randall Sullivan’s non-fiction book, LAbyrinth, that investigates the unsolved murders of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls in 1996 and 1997, respectively.

Starring alongside actors such as Forest Whitaker, Rockmond Dunbar, and Xander Berkeley, a trailer for the film was first released on May 21st of this year – Biggie Smalls’ 46th birthday – and was set to premiere on September 7th. Now, the film’s eventual release date is up in the air.

As Variety reports, a spokesman for spokesman for the distribution company, Global Road Entertainment, has now revealed that the film has been pulled from the upcoming release schedule, with a new date not yet revealed.

This news happens to come just a month after Johnny Depp was sued by a location manager for the film who accused the actor of punching and verbally assaulting him. The crew member also claimed that he had been fired from production of the film after he refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement that would have made it impossible to sue Depp.

The news also follows a period of controversy for the actor which saw his casting in the upcoming harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, come under fire due to claims of verbal and physical assault from ex-wife Amber Heard.

As yet, there has been no reason cited for the film’s removal from the release schedule, nor has any new release date been announced in its place.
