John Farnham to headline Victorian A Day On The Green
PRESS RELEASE:
It’s a warm welcome back to the a day on the green stage for Australian music icon John Farnham AO who will headline the next – and 13th – concert at All Saints Estate, Rutherglen.
In what promises to be a highly-memorable show, John will be joined on Saturday November 28 by a superb line-up featuring Daryl Braithwaite, Ross Wilson and The Black Sorrows.
This is the third Victorian a day on the green event announced for the coming summer season, following news of Fleetwood Mac (November 7) and Elton John (December 12) concerts at Mt Duneed Estate, Geelong.
For a man who has sold more tickets, more albums and notched up more achievements than any other Australian musician, performing live is still an absolute joy for John Farnham. He performed some a day on the green concerts back in 2010 and is looking forward to appearing on the outside winery stage again.
“I'm really looking forward to working on the same bill with some of my personal favourite Australian musicians,” John said. “I’ll definitely be getting there early. I don't want to miss a thing!!”
This will be the first time since a day on the green began at All Saints in January 2004 that the event has been staged late in the year, making it the perfect opportunity for a pre-Xmas work party or get together!
Drawing on the phenomenal songbook from his stellar four decade-long career, 19-time ARIA Award winner and all-round top bloke John Farnham continues to be “The Voice” of Australian music, thrilling audiences with his onstage charisma and those unforgettable vocals.
Whether it’s the hits from his landmark 80s albums Whispering Jack and Age Of Reason like You’re The Voice, Two Strong Hearts, Pressure Down, A Touch Of Paradise, Chain Reaction, That’s Freedom or his earlier material Sadie The Cleaning Lady, One and Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, there are few Australian performers who are as beloved as ‘Farnsy’.
A few weeks ago John was honoured to be announced as one of the inductees at The Age Music Victoria Awards 10th Anniversary Hall of Fame, to be held at the Palais Theatre on November 20. His 26th (yep 26th) album, Two Strong Hearts Live, from his national tour with Oliva Newton-John is released tomorrow (June 26).
The concerts will once again feature Farnham’s long-time, celebrated band, featuring amongst others Chong Lim (musical director), Stuart Fraser and Brett Garsed (guitars) and backing vocalists extraordinaire Lindsay Field and Lisa Edwards.
The three special guest support artists Daryl Braithwaite, Ross Wilson and The Black Sorrows are all huge favourites with a day on the green audiences.
From Sherbet days to his hugely successful solo career with hits like As The Days Go By, Horses and One Summer, Daryl has continued to do what he loves best – performing to his hordes of fans across the country. His most recent album Forever The Tourist shows the silky voiced singer remains in top form.
Singer, songwriter and producer Ross ‘Mr Eagle Rock’ Wilson may have a career spanning five decades but – thankfully – he’s showing no sign of slowing up. From the legendary Daddy Cool through 80’s chart-toppers Mondo Rock, through his acclaimed solo work including latest album I Come In Peace, Ross’s hit-laden live shows are always popular.
And finally, is there a more engaging musical troupe than Joe Camilleri’s The Black Sorrows? Since their inception in 1984, the band has played host to a wonderful cavalcade of musicians and released 17 albums! The last, 2014’s Certified Blue was acclaimed as “a masterpiece” and the band’s best since the multi-platinum Hold On To Me, Harley & Rose and The Chosen Ones.
This summer season marks the 15th year of a day on the green, which started in January 2001. After more than 360 shows and 2.75 million happy patrons, the a day on the green experience of good food, good wine and great music is firmly established as one of Australia’s most popular concert events.
