Jesse Flavell Joins Second Sunday, Closes Sum Management

Jesse Flavell calls time on Sum Management, and makes the leap to Second Sunday, where he now serves as director of talent and marketing.

Based in Sydney, Flavell joins the senior management at Second Sunday, the events agency founded by directors Cam Coghlan and Brendan Maher back in 2016.

In the years since launch, Second Sunday has worked across a raft of projects from the AACTA Awards, Jurassic World, The Voice, Magic Mike Live, Monster Energy, Rugby Sevens, X Games, with Bring Agency on Amex and KFC activations, and teamed-up with Roving Productions on the warmly-received 2023 ARIA Awards.

Also, the agency has developed such event brands as This is Just A Tribute, Yesterday’s Gone, Late Night Orchestra and Night at the Barracks, on which Flavell worked for the past three years; the concert series is in planning for its third year, according to reps.

“We are thrilled to announce that Jesse Flavell has officially joined our team on a full-time basis, marking a significant milestone in our journey,” comments Coghlan in a statement announcing their new recruit.

“Jesse brings with him a wealth of experience and industry knowledge that will undoubtedly propel our projects to new heights. His dedication, expertise, and innovative mindset align seamlessly with our vision for the future, and we are excited to leverage his talents in driving our initiatives forward.”

Flavell’s appointment coincides with a period of growth for the company, which is said to have several new projects in development.

With Flavell on the team, Coghlan continues, “we are confident that our team will continue to achieve remarkable milestones and set new standards in the industry.”

It’s the end of the line, however, for Sum Management.

Flavell is closing the business that he launched back in 2011, following a stint at senior management at Good Vibrations Festival.

In the 13 years since, the agency has worked alongside such clients as His Holiness The Dalai Lama, Katie Noonan, KLP, Thandi Phoenix, Woodes, Just A Gent, Sophie Lowe and more, and consulted for hospitality groups such as Keystone and Etymon Projects.

The business expanded in 2017 with the launch of a publicity arm, Collected PR.

Flavell will continue to manage long-term client Katie Noonan under the Second Sunday banner.

“I’m happy to be going all in and joining the team here after a fruitful parttime relationship over the last few years,” comments Flavell.

“It’s great to find people who can balance being ambitious, driven, and passionate with a socially conscious approach to the business and a commitment to being good people and doing good things.”

These values “were always part of my vision for Sum Management and it’s great to be joining a likeminded team.”
