Former Spotify exec Jane Huxley back in Australia to take up Are Media CEO gig

Jane Huxley has a job back in Australia, taking over the top spot at Are Media, the magazine company formerly known as Bauer Media.

Huxley was local managing director of now defunct online radio and streaming business, Pandora, a position she quit four years ago.

In September of 2017, she was named managing director of Spotify’s local operations, before being elevated to managing director for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) in 2019.

She has now left the streaming giant, however, with Are Media announcing she will become their CEO from Monday, April 26.

Outgoing CEO Brendon Hill said the organisation would benefit from a leader experienced in digital transformation, while chairman Clark Perkins said the board is delighted to attract a leader of Huxley’s calibre.

Spotify, which doesn’t comment on staff movements, declined to offer additional information on Huxley’s exit or any recruitment and replacement plans.

Are Media is the publisher of The Australian Women’s Weekly, Woman’s Day, New Idea, TV Week, ELLE Australia and marie claire.
