Jana Gibson, APRA AMCOS’ head of member services, will be leaving her role after 18 years with the organisation.

Gibson has made a significant number of achievements during her time with APRA AMCOS, including shaping the APRA Awards programs, steering the Song Summit between 2008 and 2012, commissioning research into barriers for women screen composers and establishing a member gender equity initiative.

Elsewhere, she has championed the vision of APRA AMCOS’ National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Music Office, mentored other staff and contributed positively to the company’s public profile, it said in a statement.

Gibson is leaving to focus on her family life and explore future career options. In a statement, APRA AMCOS CEO Dean Ormston praised Gibson’s tenure, saying “in her most recent role she’s delivered in spades”.

“She’s earned a reputation for being firm and fair and those of us who have had the benefit of watching her work at close range know that this is a true representation. She’s been a stabilising influence in a period of great turbulence and change and we will miss her,” he said.

“Because of whom she is, we know she leaves behind a talented and capable team who I am certain will help us navigate this shift in leadership smoothly and seamlessly. Jana, we wish you and your family well. Whatever your next move is, we know you’ll be really great at it and we wish you every success. You’ll always be APRA AMCOS family.”

APRA AMCOS said information about the recruitment process to fill the head of member services role will follow.
