“With the approval of artists andour friends, it’s been a united effort for sure,"frontman Jake Taylortold TMN this morning. "Mainly talking a few of the test presses and records that have gone through UNFD to print. Most of the other stuff like banners, guitars and all the really specific stuff has been sourced by the band."
In Hearts Wake are raising proceeds fortwo organisations; Local Futures, dedicated to a grassroots safeguarding and renewal of ecological and social well-being within communities, and Byron Young Residents Alliance (BYRA), which aims to provide a platform and voice for young residents of the Byron Shire as well as ensure the protection of Byron on an environmental and social level.
“Local Futures is a non profit organisation," continues Taylor."A lady on their board actually lives in Byron so I was lucky enough to meet with her. They have a very big and ambitious vision which is to localise, which is bringing the dollar into your local community.
"By doing so you eat locally, grow locally and by doing that it reduces the carbon footprint of all goods. It improves health;all the food you eat has so much more vitality because it’s not sprayed and shipped across six continents. It’s for the community, a very important thing that we’ve lost as human-kind I believe.”
In Hearts Wake join Australia’s biggest hardcore export, Parkway Drive, as public supporters of BYRA.
"We’ve done our best to be as active as we can," said Taylor. "[…] We have our release show for our album (Skydancer)in 11 days time and a dollar from every ticket is going towards BYRA and then 50% of this charity auction is going towards them as well so we're doing whatever we can to protect our local community as well.”
