INXS launch their innovative ‘Rekicked’ video program
It’s been thirty years since INXS truly established themselves as a world-beating band with their 1987 record Kick.
As part of the roll out campaign, the band have launch Rekicked, which is “a campaign series of reimagined videos inspired by famous INXS songs including ‘Need You Tonight’, ‘Mystify’, ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ and ‘Kick’.”
The campaign opened with the skate-themed ‘Mystify’ film, where 17-year- old skater Poppy Starr Olsen tours a number of skate parks “from the band’s early days.”
This was followed by two further videos, with the most high-profile inclusion — Client Liaison, no strangers to re-imagining elements from 1987 — releasing a cover of ‘Need You Tonight’ next week.
James Griffiths, creative director of BRING, the agency charged with bringing the campaign to life, said: “We’ve worked hard to assemble a great team of talent to pay homage to this iconic album.
“Reimagining the songs is no easy task, so we wanted people with a genuine link to the band and an authentic story to tell. With our Rekickers, we’ve found just that and we can’t wait to showcase their content over the next few weeks.”
The campaign will wrap with a Rekicked party in Sydney (venue TBA) where a new “Kick cocktail” will be revealed.
This is the final time I will ever type ‘rekick’.
