Introducing… The Industry Observer Awards 2018
Whether it comes to an unknown act or a global superstar, one constant remains: there’s always more than meets the eye.
The Industry Observer Awards is an all-new event taking place at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Tuesday, March 27, 2018.
Judged by a jury from the music industry, the Australasia-focused ceremony will recognise those that stand behind the artists and celebrate their genius, dedication and creativity.
The awards will celebrate the best in the Australian music industry, and will properly represent the independent and major sectors.

Each category will have seven judges to ensure all nominations are fairly considered and completely objective.
Shortlisting for each award will be decided by a jury comprised of Seventh Street Media’s CEO and Managing Editor, as well as a number of representatives from key music industry bodies, to be announced when nominations open on January 10.
The inaugural event will consist of a sit-down dinner with drinks and canapés included – with hosts to be announced soon.
Among the sponsors making the whole event possible are KPMG Australia, Doyles Restaurants, publisher giant BMG Australia, Mountain Goat beer and commercial law firm Madison Marcus.
Dan Teper, Director, Mergers & Acquisitions at TIO Awards sponsor KPMG Australia, said:
“We are so excited to come on board as a sponsor of the TIO Awards to celebrate some of the most integral and high-achieving individuals across the music industry. Since The Industry Observer‘s launch in March, the publication has shone a light on the figures who make the local industry so dynamic. The TIO Awards are just another example of how it acknowledges the outstanding contributions of those behind-the-scenes.”
Poppy Reid, Managing Editor at Seventh Street Media, said:
“The time has come to recognise the people behind the magic in Australia. Our goal with this event is to do just that – and to give them a great night out while we’re at it. It gives me great pleasure to be part of the team behind the awards.
“The TIO Awards won’t be your average awards ceremony,” she added. “We’ll announce a few surprises along the way, but for now, mark it in your diaries – it’ll be one for the books.”
Tickets to the TIO Awards will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendance is open to the general public and industry alike.
