Inthemix ceases as stand-alone, folds into Music Junkee

After 18 years, the dance music site Inthemix is no longer a stand-alone.

Junkee posted a goodbye message yesterday detailing that publisher Junkee Media has folded it into Music Junkee, which was a rebrand to FasterLouder 18 months ago.

At the time, Junkee Media CEO Neil Ackland said that InTheMix would remain a stand-alone as it was “commercially viable.”

In yesterday’s farewell, the publisher said times had changed, and that Music Junkee was a voice for all styles.

“It’s no small irony that Inthemix is now the legal age of the scene that it’s been covering for the past 18 years.

“Over those years Inthemix has charted the undulating rise of electronic music, festivals, DJs, nightclubs and the entire culture that it spawned.

“We’ve documented the full history of Inthemix in a long-form oral feature that celebrates the people, posts, and pride of place that it has in Australia’s music scene.”
