Interscope signs Brisbane’s Jarryd James for the US

Universal Music Group USimprint, Interscope Records, has signed Brisbane singer songwriter Jarryd James.

His debut single Do You Remember is out now in the United States through its digital partners.

In Australia and New Zealand he remains with Auckland’s Dryden Street (distributed through Universal Music).

In Australia, Do You a Remember has gone Platinum for sales of 70,000 and reached #2 on the ARIA chart. It’s at #6 this week. It also topped the Australian iTunes and Shazam charts, and was most played track on Australian radio. Its success – and national tours with Angus & Julia Stone and The Broods –led the one time Matt Corby keyboard player to sell-out his first headlining club tour in early April and showcase his mix of R&B, ambient beats and neo-soul.

“I'm super proud right now to say that I have a new family at Interscope Records,” James commented on Facebook.

Currently in Europe, he returns for more recording with Lorde’s collaborator James Little (who co-wrote and produced the single), before embarking on a theatre run for Live Nation from July 3 to 11. He also plays Splendour In The Grass: “I’ve never been, even as an audience member. I promised if I ever went, it’d be to perform.”

Interscope’s roster includes Kendrick Lamar, Selena Gomez, Carly Rae Jepsen, Zedd, Dreezy, Borns, Yelawolf and The Hunters.
