Independent Chart Wrap: The Cat Empire and Urthboy earn top debuts

AIR Singles

The Carlton Dry Independent Singles chart sees another quiet week, especially in the Top 3. Flume’s Never Be Like You ft. Kai holds #1 yet again, Joel Adams takes a new peak at #4 up from #6 with Please Don’t Go, andFlume’s Smoke & Retribution ft. Vince Staples & Kucka returns to the Top 10 at #9 from #11.

At #11 is the only new debut this week, The Temper Trap’s Thick As Thieves. Urthboy’s Long Loud Hours ft. Bertie Blackman re-enters at #14 following the hype around his new album and tour.

AIR Radio Play

Sia’s Cheap Thrills still dominates the AIR Radio Play chart though Marcus Marr & Chet Faker’s former #1 The Trouble With Us is posing a threat yet again at #2 up from #3.

Thirsty Merc’s The Good Life takes a new peak at #4 from #11, as does Sampa The Great’s Black Dignity at #9 from #19.

Outside the Top 10 Joel Adams moves up to #12 from #17 with Please Don’t Go. Mansionair inches up one spot to #13 from #14 with Pick Me Up. Hermitude re-enters at #19 with The Buzz ft. Mataya & Young Tapz, followed by Vallis Alps’ Young re-entering at #20.

AIR Albums

Following their success on the ARIA Albums chart, The Cat Empire debut at #1 on the AIR Albums chart with new album Rising With The Sun. Urthboy’s The Past Beats Inside Me Like A Second Heartbeat debuts at #2. Elizabeth Rose’s Intra takes out the #5 debut followed by the debut of Hein Cooper’s The Art Of Escapeat #8. Club Sport and Methyl Ethel debut at #9 and #10 with This Is Our Vice and Oh Inhuman Spectacle respectively.

The next debut comes at #13 wit Ben Abraham’s Sirens. Hayden Calnin makes for the last new entry at #20 with Cut Love, Pt. 1. C.W. Stoneking’s Jungle Blues re-enters at #18.
