Independent Chart Wrap: Sia and Chet Faker contend for the top
This week’s Carlton Dry Independent Music Chartsees the Top 5 of the Singles chart remain stagnant with Sia’s Elastic Heart holding #1, Chet Faker’s Talk Is Cheap at #2,Hilltop Hoods’ Cosby Sweater at #3, Peking Duk’s Take Me Over featuring Safia at #4 and Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP’s Sugar Man at #5. The first bit of movement comes in at #6 with Timmy Trumpet’s Freaks up at #6. At #9 is a new entry into the Top 10 coming from Daniel John’s with Aerial Love and Hayden James’ Something About You hits a new peak at #10 up from #12. One last new debut takes place in the Singles chart with Hermitude’s Through The Roof featuring Young Tapz breaking at #19.
The Albums chart sees Chet Faker’s Built On Glass hold the #1 spot for another week, still strong off of his Hottest 100 success. Up at #2 from #3 is former #1 Sia with 1000 Forms Of Fear, pushing Hilltop Hoods’ Walking Under Stars back down to #3. Flight Facilities have Down To Earth jump to #4 from #8, no doubt feeding off of the success they’ve had these past weeks as a headline act on St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival. Only one new debut graces the chart this week, coming in at #5 is Hellions’ Indian Summer, throwing some heavier music into the balance of the top bracket. Chet Faker is also seeing more success from his iTunes Session which now sits at #9 up from #12.
The Carlton Dry Independent Music Charts are compiled and put together by AIR, the Australian Indipendent Record Labels Assosciation, including only independent artists (regardless of distribution) in their charts.
