Inaugural Changes reveals full talks program and massive list of live shows

The inaugural Changes – a meeting of new ideas in music tech/talk and ideas – has unveiled a program which it says is designed to spark radical ideas to change the Australian music industry.

Held in Melbourne on July 4 and 5 at ACU campus, it is a collaboration between the youth music development organisation The Push, Yarra City Council, Music Victoria and the Victorian music community.

CHANGES in MUSIC

There are 80 showcases across major venues, with collaborations with record labels as I OH YOU, Bad Apples Music, Barely Dressed Records, Bedroom Suck Records, Chapter Music, Milk! Records, Our Golden Friend and Poison City.

Also involved are Music Victoria, LISTEN, UNFD, Select Music, Collective Artists and New World Artists.

Among the acts showcasing are Alexander Biggs, Cable Ties, Darcy Baylis, East Brunswick All Girls Choir, Evelyn Ida Morris, Good Morning, High Tension, Jaala, Jade Imagine, Jess Locke, Milwaukee Banks, Mojo Juju, Tyne James Organ | Void of Vision, Totally Mild and RVG.

CHANGES in TECH and TALKS

Among those unveiling ideas for the future of the music industry are those from the live music space.

They include SXSW programmer Stacey Wilhelm, VERSUS Creative/Coachella’s Rishi Shah, and from New York, Michelle Landry of Bowery Presents/Rough Trade and Carly James of Paradigm Talent Agency.

Talking about the changing face of experiencing and discovering music are forward-thinking observers as Cherie Hu (Forbes, Billboard), Joseph Edward Keyes of Bandcamp and Jenn Pelly of Pitchfork.

Helping to uncover the cutting edge of digital strategy and music technology are Pitch Studios’ Christie Morgan; a specialist in 3D animation, interactive design, and creative activations, Meredith Croy, director of artist services at Songkick; who works to pioneer new tools for data-driven insights, as well as Bolster co-founder Alex Zaccaria, Vinyl Me, Please’s Matthew Hessler, VICE’s David Benge and Amazon Music’s David Gray.

CHANGES in IDEAS

One-on-one meetings, workshops and masterclasses with the event’s guests are designed to develop new ideas and redefine careers.

Within the Hear Me Out listening sessions, participants will be invited to play their music to a selection of experts, receiving real-time feedback from Ivy League’s Marihuzka Cornelius, Bandcamp artist ambassador Will Evans, and Sub Pop’s Gareth Smith.
