Illy’s ‘The Space Between’ marks first Aussie #1 on ARIA Charts in 2021

Illy’s ‘The Space Between’ marks first Aussie #1 on ARIA Charts in 2021

Rapper Illy has become the first Aussie artist to have their album debut at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with his latest full-length release, The Space Between.

The Space Between was released on January 15 through Sony and is Illy’s sixth LP to date. The album features collaborations with US artist Wrabel, New Zealand singer Robinson, and Australian acts G Flip, Guy Sebastian and Waax.

“I’m proud of the album, and all the people who contributed to it, regardless, and I’m incredibly proud of the effort of my management, and my Sony family, who all went above and beyond to reach this achievement. We all share this together. I’m so happy for everyone involved,” Illy said in a statement.

“But most importantly this belongs to everyone out there who has supported my music, and have gone out of their way since The Space Between was announced, to get around it and me. I owe them everything and I’m so grateful to share this ride with them.”

Trailing behind Illy in the charts are Why Don’t We’s sophomore album The Good Times and The Bad Ones, The Kid LAROI’s F*ck Love (Savage) deluxe album, Taylor Swift’s second 2020 surprise album Evermore, and Eminem’s Music to Be Murdered By.

The Space Between is Illy’s second #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, following on from his previous LP Two Degrees in 2016.
