IKEA reveals musical lineup for first-ever digital festival
IKEA has announced its first-ever digital festival this month to entertain the millions of Australians in lockdown.
The free 24-hour global festival will see prominent musicians, DJs, designers and chefs turn their homes into virtual stages at 4pm on Thursday September 16, inviting audiences to experience an immersive event from the comfort of their own couches.
Artists tapped to perform for the event include Kaytranada, MØ, The Linda Lindas, Arlo Parks, Masego and TOKiMONSTA, with Brisbane artist Beks alsodelivering a live set from her home studio.
Other festival sets include home tours with figures such as Virgil Abloh, as well as cooking tutorials, gaming live streams and more.
The festival will also place an emphasis on interior design and how to make the most out of being at home, with IKEA’s local home furnishing and retail design manager, Christine Gough, saying that the event would cater to a wide range of interests.
“At a time when so many Australians understand the importance of their home, we’re excited to be able to bring a new energy into people’s lives and spaces through this 24-hour cultural experience,” Gough said
“There’s something for everyone at IKEA Festival, and to make it even more relevant for Aussies, we’ll be sharing a range of tips and tricks from our local IKEA Australia designers on how to enhance different areas of their homes.”
IKEA retail’s communications director, Olivia Ross Wilson, also heralded the festival as an unmissable event for those stuck in lockdown across the country.
“Life at home has taken on a whole new meaning for every one of us over the past year,” Wilson said.
“By being virtually connected, we can open the door to many more lives around the world – exploring how we all live, celebrating individuality and creativity.”
