iHeartRadio launches Broadway streaming channel

iHeartRadio has launched a Broadway channel that will stream songs from musicals.

A companion website iheartradiobroadway.com will provide news, videos, interviews and podcasts.

Songs heard in the first few hours were from Hamilton, Chicago, In the Heights, Wicked, The Phantom of the Opera, Beauty and the Beast, The Band’s Visit, Dear Evan Hansen Sweeney Todd, Hairspray and Fiddler on the Roof.

iHeartMedia division president Scott Hopeck said, To be able to bring the very best of Broadway – from music, interviews, events and more –  to this passionate fan base in a way they can access anytime from anywhere is extraordinary.

“Musical theatre enthusiasts can now connect with their favourite shows, soundtracks and actors in a way that only iHeartRadio can provide through this new platform.

Extending the Broadway experience past your seat in the theatre is something that has been missing and we’re pleased that we will be able to provide fans a home for that missing piece.”

The new channel competes with SiriusXM’s On Broadway.
