Iggy Azalea tweets $2.7 million deal following Island Records split

Iggy Azalea, who in early November announced she’d “officially unsigned” with Island Records, has via a number of tweets announced a new record deal worth US$2.7 million (A$3,6 million).

It apparently involves a custom label and allows her to be totally independent – something which she stressed she wanted when she parted ways with Island.

“Proud to say I literally just signed my new deal/partnership!,” she tweeted.

“2.7mil, can sign others, own my masters + 100% independent – I’m feeling like such a bossy grown ass bitch today!  Time to get back to ME. I’m so grateful & excited…”

According to one tweet, “I OWN MY OWN MASTERSSSSS bitchhhhhhhhh turn the fuck up!”

An official announcement follows this week, the Australian-born rapper said.

Azalea is moving to Atlanta to finish off some recording, with new music expected in early 2019.

She earlier told fans, “I am nowhere near ready direction wise etc with the stuff I’ve been working on and I don’t wanna jump the gun and have some messy era aesthetically.

“I’m aiming to be ready to share new music early next year!”

The parting from Island after six months capped off a strange 2018 for the rapper, which included her being put in a facility in Arizona by her management concerned over her mental health, lacklustre response to two singles, and a North American tour cancelled by Live Nation speculatively due to low ticket sales.

After her Island split, the 26-year old received a proposal by a US porn company Bang Bros.

The offer went, “You should sign with us. “Ass Parade would never be the same.”

Azalea responded: “Disgusting on so many level. It’s creepy and fake pimp vibes to even approach women ’bout this sorta shit unsolicited.”

Last week, Azalea made more news for wrong reasons when she crossed paths with 15-year old rapper Bhad Bhabie (Danielle Bregoli) at Cardi B’s fashion label launch in Hollywood.

The two had thrown shade at each other on social media days before when Iggy asked on Instagram if a friend was attending a show on the teen’s upcoming tour.

Bharbie sniffed: “U should come. Would be a good memory for u of what a sold-out show looks like,” citing Azalea’s cancelled tour.

After the teenager drenched half of Azalea’s locks, the rapper called security and had her removed.

She said she was too “grown up” to worry about a teenager wanting to “make name for herself acting a d– fool on television and online.”

She continued:  “I came to get a check. I left with a check. You left with your bag stuffed over there. And you look silly.

“I’m not going to be scrambling around on the floor for a 15-year-old girl on the Internet.”
