Iggy Azalea dominates iHeartRadio Award nominations

TheMullumbimby-born rapper and UK artist Sam Smith are tied as they both top the nominations listfor this year's iHeartRadio Music Awards in LA.

With five nods each, both are up against pop artists Taylor Swift andAriana Grande, and country act Luke Bryan for Artist of the Year. Azalea is also up for Best Collaboration –where she's up against herself for her track with Ariana Grande (Problem) andher team-up with Charli XCX for Fancy –as well asBest New Artist (the award was won by Lordein 2014), and theRenegade award, which"recognises an emerging standout artist that defies convention and who takes risks while still staying true to themselves."

Sydney's 5 Seconds of Summer have also been given a nod; the pop band's5SOSFAM is up for Best Fan Army.

Azalea, who won theARIA for Breakthrough Artistlast November, is also up for four Grammy nominations for her debut LPThe New Classicand herBillboard chart history-making singleFancy.The track with Charli XCX received two nominations, forRecord of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, whileThe New Classicsees her up against Childish Gambino,Common,ScHoolboy Q,Wiz Khalifaand Eminem for Best Rap Album. Azalea is also up for and Best New Artist.

Held on March 29 at LA'sShrine Auditorium, the second iHeartRadio Music Awards will be broadcast live on NBC in the US andsimultaneously broadcast on iHeartMedia radio stations, which is via The Australian Radio Network(ARN) locally,and on iHeartRadio'sdigital platform. Last year's inaugural iHeartRadio Awards generated8.5 billion social impressions, with the publiccasting over 65 million votes using hashtags on Facebook and Twitter.

Performerswill be announced in the coming weeks.
