Idris Elba launches own label, reveals first signing
Actor Idris Elba has launched his own record label, 7Wallace music.
Elba is best known for his acting pursuits, starring in movies Beasts of No Nation, Thor and Avenger’s franchise. What you might not know is that he’s also ventured into the world of music. Elba released his debut EP ‘Big Man’ in 2006. He’s also a practised DJ. Is there anything this man doesn’t do?
Elba has some red-hot collaborations under his belt, working with artists Pharoahe Monch, Mumford & Sons and Mr. Hudson.
The first artist on the 7Wallace roster is French-Cameroonian producer James BKS. Who has produced for massive artists like Talib Kweli and Diddy.
In an interview with Billboard Elba states: “James is a rare find. His hip-hop sensibilities transfer to the other music he makes, he’s a nice person to work with and is gonna be a strong artist for the future. It’s a huge move for 7Wallace, a small indie label.”
James BKS’ debut single ‘Kwlele’ will be released on July 13th.
